Security Screening
Security screening at any airport in any country can be quite nerve racking if you don't know what you are supposed to be doing. This guide will walk you through each step of the process when using one of our airports throughout the United States Of Jesstopia.
Before entering the screening area
Prior to entering the screening area, ensure your boarding pass(either paper or mobile), Identification card or driver's license is out and ready to be given to the Security Agent. During the COVID-19 pandemic, travelers were required to wear face coverings throughout the entire airport, regardless of where you were flying out of or into. Now that COVID is over, that requirement is no longer necessary.
Entering the screening area
When you enter the screening area, you will be required to do the following:
Remove laptops, computers or any electronics out of your non-checked, carry on bags and place them into a bin for screening.
Remove any and all jewelry, belts, and anything metal you may have in your pockets and place them into the bin. Watches and other wrist accessories must be removed, regardless of how visible they are.
Remove your shoes, sandals, boots, flip-flops or crocs. Place these items in the bin, for screening.(Note: children under the age of 12 no longer are required to remove their shoes.
Only if you have a support animal: Remove the animals metal tags, and any other plates that could set off the metal detector and body scanners. An agent will pat your dog down for any weaponry, explosives or any other items that could compromise the safety of the airport and it's aircrafts. Agents will then swab the handlers hands for any explosive residue.
Successfully go through the Security Metal Detectors. If you set the detectors off, don't worry, it could just be a item you missed. Simply, go throught the detector again to place these items in a bin. Then walk through. You may be patted down if you set the detector off more than a few times sometimes less.
Clearing Security checkpoint
After you clear the Security checkpoint, ensure to do the following:
Quickly put your footwear back on.
Collect all of your belongings including your bag(if you have one).
Proceed to you gate, and your all set. Security usually takes no more than 5-10 minutes. Peak holiday travel may modify this time frame temporarily.
Off to your destination you go. Enjoy your trip now that you cleared security. Check out the airport's lounges, stores, restaurants and more. Happy flying.
Always ask for help if you're not sure which gate your supposed to go to. Any official in the aiport should be able to help you or contact your airline's help desk or ticketing counters for the information.
